Landskating *

Landskating is a documentary directed by Kike Barberá, with a screenplay by Òscar Blasco, Sergi Carulla, and Barberá himself, and produced by scob. Filmed between 2013 and 2015, the film documents the process of citizen participation driven by the neighborhood's youth, in parallel with the construction of the first three skateparks in Barcelona: a new type of public space that combines sport, landscape, and community. More than an urban chronicle, Landskating is a generational portrait and a testament to the transformative power of youth over the city.

Social action

To share the experience of our projects, at scob we organize outreach activities with the aim of raising awareness of their transformative dimension. Through the bond with the landscape, with people, and with daily life, we explore how these public spaces generate new forms of interaction. These actions take place in community centers, libraries, youth centers, and also in academic and exhibition contexts.
In particular, the Landskate Parks have been presented as exemplary experiences in the creation of a new generation of public spaces: inclusive, vibrant, and deeply connected to their surroundings.

Projects

scob has designed a network of spaces for skateboarding and other urban skating disciplines within the Barcelona Metropolitan Area. These Urban Sports Parks are situated in very diverse contexts: from the Mar Bella beach (Poblenou), the Áurea Cuadrado gardens (Les Corts), or the Trinitat road junction (Sant Andreu), to nearby municipalities such as El Prat de Llobregat or Gavà.

Far from being just sports facilities, these spaces represent a new paradigm for public space: contemporary plazas designed for the city of the future.

Awards

The documentary Landskating has been selected for several film and architecture festivals and has been screened in more than 15 cities across Europe and Latin America.

The Landskate Parks have received numerous awards, notably the IOC/IAKS Award, the most important international architecture prize for sports, recreational, and leisure facilities, under the auspices of the International Olympic Committee.

From the very first day of their opening, the new skateparks Landskate Parks have become meeting points and reference hubs for users of all ages and disciplines. They have respected and revitalized the locations where they were established, and in their short history, they have already sparked a vast number of new and enriching social and urban dynamics.
