scob wins the competition for the new Barcelona Center for Applied Neurosciences (BCAN) at the University of Barcelona

scob, in collaboration with Barceló Balanzó, will transform the old Mundet Theater into the future headquarters of the BCAN, an international reference center for applied neuroscience. The project preserves the building’s heritage memory and artistic legacy, while at the same time adapting it to house world-class scientific research spaces. The proposal combines sustainability, innovation, and respect for architectural uniqueness, turning the old theater into an iconic facility that will drive research from Barcelona to the world.

The project keeps the relationship between the foyer and the main hall intact and places the auditorium at the access level, minimizing interventions on the property. In this way, the proposal ensures the architectural continuity of the building while, at the same time, providing it with the character and efficiency necessary to host a leading research center.

Award-winning design and architecture: Bronze Laus for Aribau195

The Aribau195 project, developed together with David Martín from Estudi Martín, has been awarded a Bronze Laus Prize by ADG-FAD in the Branding / Environmental Graphics / Signage category.

The interior signage system has been conceived in harmony with the building’s architecture, combining functionality, rational typography, and sustainable materials such as wood, creating a warm and coherent atmosphere.

The parking floors have also been carefully designed, with clear signage, a bright color palette, and gradients that evoke the transition from sky to earth, reflecting the continuity of nature within the architectural ensemble.

A proposal where design, sustainability, and user experience come together to enrich the space from a contemporary perspective.

scob wins the competition to transform the Plaza Mayor in Palma

scob, in collaboration with Barceló Balanzó, will lead the renovation of the iconic Plaça Major in Palma with its proposal ÁGORA 001. The project seeks to revitalize this urban space while respecting its historical identity, boosting its relationship with the surroundings and connecting the square with the Rambla through a dynamic program of social, cultural, and commercial uses.

The creation of a large atrium, inspired by the old cloister of the Sant Felip Neri convent, will provide environmental quality, light, and ventilation to the lower level, consolidating the square as a key point for public life in Palma. With a transformative vocation, the intervention is proposed as a catalyst for the promotion of a new Agora in the center of Palma, reinforcing the existing cultural fabric and encouraging new activities. This space will become a dynamic benchmark for the social, cultural, and urban life of the city.
