The magical landscape of Montserrat

In the heart of the Montserrat Natural Park, just a few kilometers from Barcelona, lies an old 15th-century farmhouse, now transformed into the Can Farrés hotel.

The intervention in the outdoor spaces was carried out with the intention of empathizing with the existing landscape and with all the natural forces and cultural traditions that have shaped it over time. The use of conglomerate rock—characteristic of the Montserrat range—ceramic brick manufactured in the same municipality, and metal trellises used for generations in this agricultural setting all help define and give character to the hotel’s different outdoor spaces.

Recovering the links between architecture and landscape

The proposal seeks to empathize with the location by emphasizing its geological construction, its spiritual appeal, and respect for the agricultural environment, recovering the links between architecture and landscape that have always characterized the construction of this territory.

The Hotel Masía Can Farrés offers its guests a unique local stay, inextricably linked to the Montserrat mountain and its geological, cultural, and spiritual symbolism.
