The building sits at the northern edge of Barcelona’s renowned Eixample, designed by Ildefons Cerdà in the late 19th century and characterized by blocks of party-wall buildings with double facades: one facing the street and the other the interior courtyard.
The building recovers
the continuity
of the urban fabric
The proposal, with an approach that harmonizes architecture and landscape, manages to renew a representative office building while simultaneously fostering the recovery of the spirit and identity of the 1859 Cerdà Plan, a symbol of the egalitarian principle of Barcelona’s urbanism.
The intervention strategy, sensitive to the current context, helps advance the creation of more respectful buildings and more livable cities; this is why the rehabilitation has obtained LEED Platinum and WELL Gold certifications.
